What are libbypops?

Last May, on what would be Libby's last airplane ride, she lost it. She was not cute and fun. She was a toddler stuck traveling cross-country on a flight where the fasten seat belt sign would not go off. Nothing would console her and I was fresh out of tricks and treats. I would have gladly paid $5 for one DumDum lollipop that day. Libby loved her lollipops, or "pops" as she'd call them. Last Halloween I gleefully collected all the DumDums the big kids had gotten in their candy bags. They were the perfect size and sure to guarantee a bit of peace as I rationed them out to our sweet, yet feisty girl. A little bit of silence on a stick.

After that flight I made sure my purse was always stocked with spare pops. And after Libby died I knew we would be handing out DumDums for Halloween. Probably forever.

So with Halloween approaching we want to share the "pop" love and invite our friends and family near and far to hand out ‪#‎libbypops‬ with their Halloween candy this year. They are easy to prep and a fun activity for the family to do together. Take photos, make sure to add the #libbypops hashtag and bit.ly/libbypops link with your photo, then share the post with your friends and family. Thank you for helping share the story of our little Libby and her big life!

Directions for making libbypops:
• Buy DumDums or other pops to include in your Halloween candy handout. If you don’t hand out candy yourself, consider making libbypops to donate to a school, church, or business that does trick-or-treating.
• Color the bottom tip of the pop stick bright pink. This will show that it’s a libbypop! This is easily done with a marker or ink pad. A great job for little kids!
• Copy the libbypop tags (see photo attachment below). Pink paper is ideal, but not at all necessary. If you're local, I have pink paper for you! Cut and attach the tags to the pops. This can be done with tape or by cutting on the identified lines. From there you can just slide the pop stick right through the tag.
• As you make your libbypops pray for the kids that will be receiving them and for other prayer needs in your family and community. Take photos! Post and tag those photos all over social media! And if you collect any libbypops on Halloween, post those as well! We’ll have things set up so that folks will be able to connect to a blog through the hashtag that tells of Libby’s story and God’s great faithfulness.
